چکیده
Objective: to evaluate the policy of TST testing in Suriname. As there is no gold standard diagnose latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI), tuberculin skin test (TST) used LTBI. However, internationally, cut-off values are not uniform and depend on local (TB) epidemiology guidelines for test initiation. In Suriname, where currently several indications exist TSTs, cut-off values set at 5 mm or 10 mm, depending on age and/or medical history patient. LTBI classification is performed by pulmonologists primarily based American Thoracic Society targeted TB guidelines. Method: retrospective analysis outpatient data between 2011 2019 from Suriname’s sole pulmonary medicine clinic. Result: 1373 patients were evaluated. 590 were screening group whom 253 had a positive result, 46 classified as contact tracing group 649 patients, 616 a positive TST, 352 as LTBI. condition 134 96 38 of Eventually, results found for 965 tested patients: 436 529 non-LTBI patients prescribed chemoprophylaxis. None non-LTBI TST-positive diagnosed with active TB, including 174 patients with result 15 greater need IPT, but by judgement pulmonologist because loss follow-up. Conclusion: overrepresentation Suriname attributable to stringent values, especially among who do disclose TB risk factors. our opinion value such in Suriname other similar settings could be mm. We also promote that for all greater, offering IPT should be considered (after excluding TB).

Patient's self-interpretation of tuberculin skin tests.
BACKGROUND In the outpatient use of tuberculin skin testing (purified protein derivative [PPD]), it is at times inconvenient to have a patient revisit for interpretation. Therefore, we assessed patients' ability to self-interpret these test results. METHODS In keeping with prior custom, patients were seen by an experienced nurse, who performed skin testing with PPD intermediate strength as we...
متن کاملThe utility and interpretation of tuberculin skin tests in the Middle East.
Tuberculin skin test (TST) interpretation can be confounded by Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccination and infection with nontuberculosis mycobacteria (NTM). However, a wealth of epidemiologic information has allowed the formulation of recommendations for reasonably informed interpretation of the TST in most clinical situations. In the Middle East, the TST remains a useful test. BCG vaccinat...

Intrapartum-related hypoxia leading to deaths and disabilities continues to be a global challenge, especially in resource-limited settings. Primary prevention during labour is likely to have a significant impact, but secondary prevention with focus on immediate basic stabilization at birth can effectively reduce a large proportion of these adverse outcomes as demonstrated in the resource-rich s...
